About Us

We used to be executive managers in international companies, until we decided to start a new life, closer to nature and its values, giving priority to the persons.

Our country house is an ancient "casale" of the XIV century that used to be a resting place for monks. It is surrounded by a 10-acres oliveyard, producing an olive oil noted in the region, and a small vineyard. A dream place to stay and visit the countryside and Tuscany.

The vineyard

A perfect place to start your holiday in Italy

After a night in a romantic ancient room, an Italian breakfast in the Loggia... what a better start of your day to visit the 100 Lucca churches, the medieval Garfagnana villages, the bargain market in Forte dei Marmi; to take a boat trip to the Cinque Terre; and much more... And if you want to rest for a while, why not a walk in the Centone's olive yard and a swim with a panoramic view over Lucca walls?

We came here in 2014 and it was love at first sight. We have worked hard to recover most of its ancient character: columns, walls, floors, decorations; and now it is available to our customers. We wanted to keep the original taste of romantic imperfection of its details.

We are pleased to present you the ancient Loggia del Centone.

The hosts

We are Laura and Andrea, and we wanted to create a quiet and romantic country yard spot for our customers. We try our best to make their stay remarkable!

Laura & Isotta

“Last week, I needed to find a place to stay in Matraia to be near my family. Loggia del Centone came up on Airbnb and it seemed perfect. I was thrilled to find it was more than perfect. Typically Tuscan with all the character preserved. The room was just like the photos, very well equipped and the bed was so comfortable – best 7 nights’ sleep I’ve had for ages. Andrea and Laura were charming hosts, making me feel very welcome. They were always on hand to help out and on my last day, I left with a heavy heart. The breakfasts were good, and I will miss Laura’s orange jam, although I did manage to squeeze a jar in my suitcase! I would love to come back and see more of the Lucca area, and I would definitely stay at this delightful bed and breakfast. There are also a couple of restaurants in the village within easy walking distance, and it was a treat not to have to drive. I would happily recommend Loggia del  Centone for a wonderful, relaxing and true Tuscan experience. Thank you so much to both of you.”  - Sue, August 2016
